This spring, a new 24in iMac model was launched, replacing the old 21.5in model. Sources predict that Apple is working on a similarly supersized update for the 27in iMac - but we'll be waiting a while before it gets announced.
The tech leaker DylanDKT claims that the replacement for the old 27in will not be released until next year. He puts this timing down to delays in other product releases: "Apple simply does not want their devices to compete for attention," he explains.
Just as an explanation for those who are wondering, the high end iMac is not expected to release in Q4 alongside the other M1X Mac’s. Apple simply does not want their devices to compete for attention and delay's in product releases have led to this timetable.

Exactly how big a screen we'll be getting in the new model remains to be seen, but we can expect it to be at least 30in, and maybe bigger.
According to Bloomberg's Apple expert Mark Gurman, the jumbo iMac will be equipped with a more powerful variant of Apple's proprietary processor, but whether it will be M1X or M2X depends on when the machine is released. DylanDKT predicts that the autumn's crop of new Macs will be based on M1X, but next year's launches could get access to the M2 family of chips.
