iPhone 13: More evidence for smaller notch

There have been many different suggestions about what will happen to the notch in the new iPhones released near the end of 2021. Some say it will stay the same; others that it will shrink; and still others reckon it will disappear completely.

Near the end of March, MacRumors posted a photo that purported to show the front panels of three upcoming iPhone models. These seemed to signal that the notch will be smaller on the iPhone 13 compared to the iPhone 12.

Now the Japanese site Macotakara has made more specific claims, predicting the exact dimensions of the notch - and this indicates that the notch is going to get significantly narrower (dropping from a width of 34.83mm to 26.80mm), while slightly increasing in height from 5.3mm to 5.35mm.

This entails some reshuffling of the sensors: the front-facing camera is moved to the left, while the speaker/microphone is slightly repositioned.

If you long for a completely notch-free iPhone, it looks like you'll have to wait at least another year and a half.
